PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the accuracy of medicine recognition based on an image obtained by imaging a package and to quickly obtain a medicine recognition result.;SOLUTION: A medicine recognition device includes; a ranking unit 112 which extracts a plurality of local feature quantities from a read image obtained by reading a package of a medicine and associates the plurality of local feature quantities extracted from the read image with the closest local feature quantities out of registered local feature quantities in reference to a registered image database 102 with which local feature quantities extracted about a plurality of recognizable medicines are registered respectively in association with the plurality of medicines, and ranks the plurality of medicines in accordance with the numbers of associated local feature quantities; a rotation processing unit 113 which obtains conversion information for conversion of an image of a medicine on the basis of respective extracted local feature quantities; and a verification processing unit 114 which performs conversion using the obtained conversion information to determine whether the image of the medicine is identical to the read image.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT
