PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a block copolymer which has a low metal content, can be formed by living polymerization on a support, and enables economically rational manufacture of a preferable microphase separation structure film.;SOLUTION: In the block copolymer, mutually incompatible polymers, namely, a polymer component (A) including an alkylene oxide chain and a polymer component (B) including a C2-C20 alkylene chain, are coupled through a covalent bond. The polymer component (B) has a C6-C50 mesogenic side chain.
