PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a composite particle which enables production of a composite particle having an excellent antistatic effect by using carbon black.SOLUTION: A method of producing a composite particle comprises: a cationic polymer adsorption step of causing a cationic polymer to be adsorbed on the surface of a resin particle to form a cationic polymer adsorbed resin particle; and a carbon black adsorption step of causing carbon black to be adsorbed on the surface of the cationic polymer adsorbed resin particle. The adsorption of the cationic polymer onto the surface of the resin particle is carried in a liquid of a pH 1 or more lower than the pKa of the cationic polymer. The carbon black has an average particle size of 10-500 nm, and the resin particle has an average particle size of 0.1-10 μm which is 5-100 times the average particle of the carbon black. In the carbon black adsorption step, the mass of the carbon black is at least 1/100 of the mass of the cationic polymer adsorbed resin particle.
