PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction test device for evaluating lubricity of cutting fluid, which performs a friction test nearly in a state of actual cutting.;SOLUTION: A columnar test piece 3 is rotated, a tool 2 for evaluation is brought into contact with the test piece 3, cutting fluid is supplied to the contact part between the tool 2 and the test piece 3, and a frictional force between the test piece 3 and the tool 2 for evaluation is detected to evaluate the cutting fluid. A curved surface part 6 having a curvature equivalent to that of a side surface of the test piece 3 and a plane part 7 continuous with the curved surface part are formed in the tool 2 for evaluation. When the curved surface part 6 of the tool 2 for evaluation is brought into contact with the side surface of the test piece 3, they are in surface contact with each other, and a clearance C is formed between the plane part 7 and the test piece 3 due to the surface contact. The cutting fluid is supplied to the contact part between the curved surface part 6 and the test piece 3 from the clearance C.
