PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling an ink cartridge IC chip that can reduce the rate of false alarm of an image forming apparatus during the ink cartridge position detection processes, and to provide the ink cartridge IC chip and an ink cartridge.;SOLUTION: The ink cartridge IC chip includes an interface unit and a control unit. The interface unit is electrically connected to an image forming apparatus, and used for receiving a light control instruction sent from the image forming apparatus. The light control instruction includes a light emission instruction that is used for instructing illumination of a light-emitting unit on the ink cartridge IC chip. The control unit is used for controlling whether to execute the light control instruction according to the state of the ink cartridge IC chip when the interface unit receives the light control instruction, and for updating the state of the ink cartridge IC chip based on the light control instruction.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT
