PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkyl-modified polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) solution having a high transparency and, even when the concentration of the alkyl-modified PVA is low, a high viscosity.;SOLUTION: The provided alkyl-modified vinyl alcohol-based polymer solution includes an alkyl-modified vinyl alcohol-based polymer, a surfactant, and water in a state where the alkyl-modified vinyl alcohol-based polymer includes a monomer unit possessing an alkyl group having 5-29 carbon atoms, where the content of the monomer unit is 0.05 mol% or above and 5 mol% or below, where the degree of saponification of the alkyl-modified vinyl alcohol-based polymer is 20 mol% or above and 99.99 mol% or below, and where the surfactant is a compound expressed by the following formula (I).;COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT
