PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To design a meta material from a wide range of materials.;SOLUTION: A meta material design method includes the steps of: optimizing a complex refractive index distribution so that the complex refractive index of an entire unit structure of a meta material calculated by electromagnetic field analysis from the unit structure of the meta material providing arbitrary complex refractive index distribution is a negative refractive index and an absorption coefficient is a predetermined value or less; and searching for a material which achieves the optimized complex refractive index distribution from materials in which complex refractive index is known.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2015,JPO&INPIT
