PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation method and an operation system of circulation pumps capable of switching the number of the circulation pumps, to be operated for supplying a condenser of a thermal power plant with cooling water, from two units to one unit under a plurality of conditions.;SOLUTION: Circulation pump operation determination means 26 determines whether or not operation of either a first circulation pump 11 or a second circulation pump 12 can be stopped on the basis of: a state of a load 31 measured by load state measuring means 21; a temperature of seawater W at a side of an intake 6 measured by first cooling water measuring means 22; a temperature of the seawater W at the side of an outlet 7 measured by second cooling water measuring means 23; a temperature difference in the seawater W between the temperatures at the side of the intake 6 and the outlet 7 calculated by temperature difference calculation means 24; and a vacuum of a condenser 4 measured by condenser vacuum measuring means 25.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT
