PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spring steel excellent in corrosion resistance characteristic in a corrosive environment and a spring steel material.;SOLUTION: The spring steel excellent in corrosion resistance characteristic is provided which has a chemical composition containing, by mass%, C:0.4 to 1.2%, Si:0.01 to 3.0%, Mn:0.30 to 2.5%, Al:0.001 to 0.5%, N:0.003 to 0.015%, Ti:over 0.05 to 0.5%, S: limited to 0.030% or less, P: limited to 0.03% or less, O: limited to 0.0050% or less, and satisfying Ti/47.9-(S×2/32.1+N/14.0)≥0 and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. The spring steel material is also provided which has 25 points or less per 0.25 mm2 where Mn and S are simultaneously detected as spots of 1 μm2 or more on a surface by EPMA analysis.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT
