PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for determining a location of a single-phase-to-ground fault in an ungrounded power distribution system.SOLUTION: The method detects a faulty phase 265 of a power distribution system having a fault and compares a difference between an angle of a voltage and an angle of a current which are measured at a root of a faulty feeder 275 and boundaries of respective sections of the faulty feeder 275 to determine a faulty section 285 of the faulty feeder 285 having the fault. A line segment of the faulty section 285 is tested for a change in sign of a voltage on the faulty phase 265 in the faulty section 285 to determine a faulty line segment 290. The location of the fault is determined based on a distance from a terminal bus of the faulty line segment 290 to a location along the faulty line segment 290, where the voltage on the faulty phase 265 has a value equal to zero.
