PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display system in which the power consumption of an image display device and an image output device is reduced.;SOLUTION: The image output device comprises: receiving means for receiving a digital broadcast; signal processing means for processing the digital broadcast received by the receiving means to turn it into a video/audio signal; first communication means for transmitting the video/audio signal to the image display device and transmitting/receiving a control signal; and second communication means consuming less power than the first communication means and transmitting/receiving the control signal to and from the image display device. The image display device comprises: display means for displaying an image; first communication means for receiving the video/audio signal from the image output device and transmitting/receiving the control signal; and second communication means consuming less power than the first communication means and transmitting/receiving the control signal to and from the image output device.
