PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin film forming apparatus capable of continuously forming a thin film having high film thickness accuracy at a high speed for a long member and capable of causing a portion of a surface of the long member to be a thin film non-formation part.;SOLUTION: A long member 15 introduced into an application apparatus 1 is brought into contact with a coating film material 17 inside a die part 5. The coating film material 17 adheres to a surface of the long member 15 when the long member 15 passes the inside of the die part 5. When the long member 15 is led out of the die part 5, the coating film material 17 of the thickness corresponding to the clearance between an upper surface of long member 15 and an inner surface of the die part 5 is taken out. In that case, the coating film material 17 flows out to a groove part 7 even when the coating film material 17 goes around a lower surface side of the long member 15.
