In a specific embodiment , alumino fluoride host material is doped with europium . In a more specific embodiment , the processor distinguishes the scattered neutrons from gamma rays based on identifying a peak in the output signal from the scintillator . In a further specific embodiment , the system comprises a first scintillator and the second scintillator . The processor identifies the neutron response of the first scintillator by subtracting the luminescence emitted from the second scintillator from the luminescence emitted from the first scintillator .
