PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an array waveguide diffraction grating type optical multiplexer demultiplexer which has stable optical characteristics and high reliability.;SOLUTION: An array waveguide diffraction grating type optical multiplexer demultiplexer includes: an array waveguide diffraction grating chip which has a first slab waveguide connected to a first input/output waveguide, an array waveguide comprising a plurality of channel waveguides connected to the first slab waveguide, differing in length from each other, and arrayed in parallel, a second slab waveguide connected to the array waveguide, and a plurality of second input/output waveguides connected to the second slab waveguide, and is cut into two pieces with a cutting plane crossing the first slab waveguide or the second slab waveguide; a substrate board which is joined with a lower surface of the array waveguide diffraction grating chip and cut at least partially along the cutting plane of the array waveguide diffraction grating chip; and a compensation member which is provided extending across a region of the substrate board separated by the cutting plane, and compensates a temperature-dependent shift in light transmission center wavelength of an array waveguide diffraction grating, the compensation member being bonded to a part of a surface-treated surface with an adhesive.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT
