PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To backup at a low cost and remotely without causing deterioration of operation performance.SOLUTION: The data backup device comprises: an operation storage 12 for storing operation data; a remote storage 14 that stores the operation data in a remote location over a wide area network 18; and a controller 10 that controls transmission processing for a backup of the operation data, and a stand-by storage 16 performing backup processing faster than performing the backup processing to the remote storage 14 is further installed at the operation storage 12. The controller 10 comprises: a transfer control part 20 that transfers backup object data (operation data) to the remote storage 14 when starting the backup processing until a target end time; an end time judgement part 22 that judges whether or not the backup processing to the remote storage 14 is completed until the target end time; and a change-over control part 24 that transfers the object data to the stand-by storage 16 when it is judged that the backup processing thereto is not completed until the target end time.
