Discloses a nanocomposite comprising a suitable inorganic clay exfoliation and halogenated elastomer for use as an air barrier. The halogenated elastomer, C ₄ ~C ₇ iso-olefin derived units, para - methylstyrene derived units, and is a polymer (including halo-methyl styrene) units derived from para, or a butyl rubber type.
