PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for production by which a long carbon fiber sheet precursor or a long carbon fiber sheet can efficiently and continuously be produced at low cost with excellent productivity.;SOLUTION: A sheet-like adhesive material 21a composed of a carbon fiber precursor and a phenol resin is disposed at the end of a first carbon fiber sheet precursor 11, and the sheet end of a second carbon fiber sheet precursor 12 is superimposed on the sheet end of the first carbon fiber sheet precursor 11, hot-pressed with a hot-pressing apparatus, bonded and joined together. The resultant material is then wound into a rolled shape in one of the first carbon fiber sheet precursor 11 or the second carbon fiber sheet precursor 12. The operation is repeated to provide a single long carbon fiber sheet precursor 14 of the rolled shape in which the plurality of carbon fiber sheet precursors are joined together. Furthermore, the long carbon fiber sheet precursor 14 of the rolled shape in which the plurality of carbon fiber sheet precursors are joined together is continuously carbonized while unwinding the long carbon fiber sheet precursor 14 of the rolled shape, and wound.
