PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suitably keep balance between lightness and saturation in a document image by reducing clipping. PSOLUTION: There is provided a method of creating a color profile for converting a color value in a device-independent first color space into a color value in a device-dependent second color space for color adjustment of an output device. The method includes (S206) in which a color value outside a color gamut of the output device is mapped on a surface of the color gamut with the color value in the first color space, (S208) in which a color difference (ΔE) between color values outside the color gamut before and after mapping in S206 is calculated, (S210) in which a correction value (Δh) for correcting the color value outside the color gamut before mapping in S206 is calculated based upon the color difference (ΔE) calculated in S208 and the color value outside the color gamut before mapping in S206, (second S206) in which a color value outside the color gamut after correction with the correction value (Δh) calculated in S210 is re-mapped, and (S212) in which the color profile for converting the color value outside the color gamut before mapping in S206 into a color value in the second color space corresponding to the color value outside the color gamut after mapping in the second S206 is created.
