PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide, for example, a volume hologram optical recording medium excellent in stability and reliability which can suppress an intensity variation, for example, in diffraction efficiency after signal recording and can stably develop a high S/N ratio. PSOLUTION: The volume hologram optical recording medium has a recording layer containing at least one compound selected from compounds (A1) having a terpenoid skeleton, compounds (A2) represented by general formula (I), and cyclic or non-cyclic compounds (A3) having at least two double bonds two of which are relatively located at 1,4-position.
