PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To isolate M1PDH gene and M1 Pase gene which enable the efficient synthesis of mannitol in a transformant, and to develop plants, microorganisms and the like having improved stress resistance by the utilization of the genes. PSOLUTION: It has been succeeded to obtain the M1PDH gene and the M1 Pase gene from Caloglossa continua by the determination of the partial amino acid sequence of an enzyme purified from the Caloglossa continua, PCR using a primer designed on the basis of the sequence information, and the like. The transfer of the genes enables to efficiently synthesize the mannitol in plants or microorganisms, and improve the stress resistance of the organisms. PCOPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
