PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To directly generate optical pulse of high repetition of 1 GHz or higher which has a pulse width of 500 femtosecond or less with shaped waveform from an active mode synchronous fiber laser, with no use of an optical pulse compressor.;SOLUTION: In an active mode synchronous fiber laser, an optical amplifier 7, a single mode optical fiber 2 of which an average value of group speed dispersion is abnormal dispersion, an optical isolator 4, an optical modulator 8, and a band pass type optical filter 6 are coupled together in a ring shape to form a ring resonator, with an optical coupler 3 provided which takes out an optical pulse that is generated in the ring resonator to the outside.
