METHOD, SYSTEM AND PROGRAM OF MOVING CARTRIDGES BETWEEN LIBRARY STRINGS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To move a cartridge between library strings (LSs) efficiently in a short time in a shuttle complex of a library using two or more shuttle connections (SCs).;SOLUTION: A method includes: receiving a command to mount a specific cartridge present in an LS on one side of relay-point LSs; searching for a target drive among the plurality of LSs to mount the specific cartridge on; searching for the target drive among the LSs present on the other side of the relay-point LSs, opposite to the LS in which the specific cartridge is present; selecting one of the plurality of relay-point LSs to move the specific cartridge to the searched target drive by using at least two of the SCs; and searching for a new empty drive which may appear in the other relay-point LSs than the selected relay-point LS until the specific cartridge reaches the selected relay-point LS.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT
