PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new quinuclidinone reductase and its gene; and to provide an industrially-advantageous method for producing an optically-active 3-quinuclidinol useful as a synthetic intermediate for medicines and agricultural chemicals or its salt by asymmetric reduction reaction induced by the reductase.;SOLUTION: The quinuclidinone reductase has the following physical and chemical properties: (i) in a molecular weight, a value measured by gel filtration chromatography is in the range of 70,000-73,000 Da, and a value measured by SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis is in the range of 29,500-31,500 Da; (ii) optimal pH is in the range of 6.0-8.0; and (iii) an NADH or its derivative is required as a coenzyme.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
