PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition for an aqueous coating that improves adhesion to a hardly adhesive elastic coating without deteriorating fundamental performances such as stain resistance, weather resistance and the like. PSOLUTION: A resin (I), obtained by copolymerizing (A) an epoxy group-containing unsaturated monomer bearing at least one epoxy group and at least one polymerizable double bond in the molecule, (B) a hydroxy group-containing unsaturated monomer bearing at least one hydroxy group and at least one polymerizable double bond in the molecule, and (C) other monomers and a water-soluble and/or water-dispersible synthetic resin (II) different from (I) are blended so that the constitution ratio in terms of solids content of (I) to (II) is 1/99 to 50/50 thereby to improve adhesion to a hardly adhesive highly elastic coating without deteriorating fundamental performances of the synthetic resin (II).
