PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently arrange a bundle of documents in a short period of time and achieve stable feeding operation.;SOLUTION: The document feeder includes: a placing table on which a plurality of sheets of documents are placed; a document feeding means which feeds from the document of the one surface side of the bundle of documents in the feeder; a pressing means which presses the bundle of documents from the other surface side thereof toward the document feeding means side; an alignment means which aligns the bundle of documents placed on the placing table by moving it up and down; and an alignment assisting member which is provided to come close to or retreat from the pressing means at a position where it is opposed to the pressing means. When aligning the bundle of documents, the alignment means moves the bundle of documents up and down in a state where the bundle of documents is held by the pressing means and the alignment assisting member, and the document feeding means does not come into contact with the one surface of the bundle of documents.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
