A motor selection device reads maximum output torque T, dynamic friction torque Ti, constant load torque Tm, acceleration time ta, constant speed time tc, deceleration time td, and stop time tb which are stored in a storage unit, calculates torque in the acceleration time ta as Ta which is the sum of the maximum output torque T, the dynamic friction torque Ti, and the constant load torque Tm, calculates torque in the constant speed time tc as Tc which is the sum of the dynamic friction torque Ti and the constant load torque Tm, calculates torque in the deceleration time as Td which is the sum of the maximum output torque T, the dynamic friction torque Ti, and the constant load torque Tm by the load, calculates torque in the stop time with the constant load torque Tm as Tb, and calculates effective torque Te by giving the acquired torque Ta, Tc, Td, and Tb, the acceleration time ta, the constant speed time tc, the deceleration time td, and the stop time tb to a predetermined formula.
