PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a growth environment improvement material that is suitable for improvement of a growth environment of animal and plant, especially plant and fish.SOLUTION: A growth environment improvement material 5 includes: a first plant quality powder derived from a seed of a plant of Sapindales Meliaceae that is useful for improvement of a soil environment and a water quality environment; and a second plant quality powder derived from a seed of a plant of scutellaria order sesame family that has a methylenedioxyphenyl group component. When the growth environment improvement material 5 is sprayed or mixed to/with a plant growth soil, a pest repellent effect, and an animal repellent effect of murine or mole or the like are obtained. A plant planted in a soil absorbs an active ingredient of the growth environment improvement material 5 from the root, and sucks it to the branch edge or the like. Consequently, need to spray chemical liquid or the like to a stem, branch, leaf or the like of the plant becomes few, not only a pest repellent effect in underground but also a pest repellent effect on ground can be obtained, and the growth environment of the plant can be improved as a whole.
