Weld crack test method and specimen

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a welding crack testing method in laser welding where an I type beveling is used, a root gap can be narrowly set, further, the root gap can be controlled to high precision, and the proper evaluation of welding cracks in laser welding is made possible. PSOLUTION: In the welding crack testing method where planar testpieces 1 having projecting parts 3 are installed in such a manner that the projecting parts are confronted, gap set blocks 8 are interposed at the parts other than the projecting parts, and the gap set blocks are interposed, thus a root gap g is formed between the confronted projecting parts, both the testpieces are held to a state of being pressed against the gap set blocks, and the space between the projecting parts is subjected to laser welding, the root gap is regulated by inserting/extracting a shim 11 between each gap set block and each testpiece.
