PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide calcium aluminate based slag as such as a solidifying material in the soil based paving solidifying material for paving the surface layer of roads, walkways, playgrounds, sports ground and the like and a paving method using the soil based solidifying material. PSOLUTION: The soil based paving method comprises adding water to a soil based solidifying material obtained by mixing soil with hydraulic calcium aluminate based slag, uniformly spreading and levelling the resulting solidifying material and/or uniformly spreading and levelling the above solidifying material, thereafter adding water thereto, and performing compaction. The calcium aluminate based slag contains, by mass%, 20-40% AlSB2/SBOSB3/SB, 30-60% CaO, and 3-15% SiOSB2/SB. Further, the calcium aluminate based slag contains 25-45% AlSB2/SBOSB3/SB, a ratio of (CaO+CaFSB2/SB)/AlSB2/SBOSB3/SBof 1.1-2.0, and 2-6% CaFSB2/SB.
