PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a communication system which can enhance a power saving effect.;SOLUTION: Each of ONUs 2-1 to 2-n includes a PON controller 28 for informing an OLT 1 of a mode for each logical link and determining a transmission time zone as an up-link transmission time zone on the basis of an allocation result from the OLT 1, and a device controller 27 for stopping the up-link transmission function in time zones other than the transmission time zone. The OLT 1 includes a PON controller 17 for using the informed mode for each logical link as mode information, and a zone updating period manager 18 for determining a zone request period on the basis of the mode information and a set period for each logical link. The PON controller 17 allocates an up-link transmission zone to associated one of the ONUs 2-1 to 2-n for each zone request period and transmits an allocated result for each zone request period.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
