PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable electronic device generating proper magnitude of vibration from the start of notification according to the direction of a device.;SOLUTION: A cellular phone 1 is provided with: a motor 48 which generates vibration for notification; an acceleration sensor 45 which detects inclination data regarding an inclination angle; a memory 44 which preliminarily stores a vibration amount indicating the magnitude of the vibration to be generated by the motor 48 in association with each of a plurality of mounting states; and a CPU 49 which checks the mounting state of the cellular phone among a plurality of mounting states based on the inclination data detected by the acceleration sensor 45 when an event to cause the motor 48 to generate the vibration occurs, determines the vibration amount according to the checked mounting state by referring to the memory 44, and controls the motor 48 to make notification based on the occurrence of an event with the determined vibration amount.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
