PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for controlling combustion of a gasification and melting furnace, configured to prevent generation of NOx and slag jam in the furnace only by adjusting primary air without significantly increasing cost.;SOLUTION: A furnace air ratio, which is an air ratio after primary air is supplied in a furnace 106, is determined on the basis of the amount of gasifying air to be supplied to a gasification furnace 102, the amount of primary air to be supplied to the furnace 106, the amount of secondary combustion air to be supplied to a secondary combustion chamber 110, and oxygen concentration in exhaust gas from the secondary combustion chamber 110. A higher value is set as a target value of the furnace air ratio as the temperature in the furnace 106 is lower, in a range from a first value suitable for preventing generation of NOx to a second value which is suitable for increasing the temperature in the furnace 106 and larger than the first value. The amount of primary air to be supplied is adjusted so as to bring the furnace air ratio value close to the target value.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
