PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove, as reverberations, unneeded echo signals because of the reflection of sound waves that depend on submarine topography at a sea area where complex submarine topography is present. PSOLUTION: An active sonar device comprises: a transmitter; a receiver for receiving the reflection waves of sound waves transmitted from the transmitter as reception signals; a detection removal sea area extraction section for extracting a sea area in which topography causing reflections to occur easily is present as a detection removal sea area, based on sea bottom depth data indicating the depth of the bottom of the sea at a position on a map and obstacle data indicating the position of an obstacle at the bottom of the sea; a signal processing section for calculating the level of the reception signal; a signal detection section for detecting, as an echo signal, a reception signal where a level calculated by the signal processing section in the reception signals has exceeded a preset threshold; and a detection removal determination section for removing, as reverberations, an echo signal reflected by the detection removal sea area extracted by the detection removal sea area extraction section in echo signals detected by the signal detection section.
