PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide white particles for an electrophoretic ink, which exhibit high reflectance in white display, can display an image with high contrast, and is stable with time, and to provide an electrophoretic ink using the particles.SOLUTION: The white particles for an electrophoretic ink are prepared by titanium oxide particles of which surface are treated with at least an alkylalkoxysilane or polysiloxane and an alkoxytitanium alkylate. Alternately, the white particles for an electrophoretic ink are prepared by titanium oxide particles of which surface are treated with at least an alkylalkoxysilane, polysiloxane, and alkoxytitanium alkylate. The electrophoretic ink of the present invention contains the above white particles.
