PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely and accurately measure volume of trace amount of droplet, irrespective of evaporation of liquid.;SOLUTION: While forming a plurality of space on a substrate and dispensing a measurement liquid containing a label substance into a part of the space, liquid composed of only a label substance is fed into the other part of the space. Characteristics of the liquid composed of only the label substance are detected, while detecting characteristics of the label substance in the dispensed measurement liquid. Volume of the measurement liquid, after being dispensed, is measured from both detection values. The space is made to be a plurality of through-holes, penetrating a partition wall which is formed as a separate body separate from the substrate in a vertical direction. An O-ring is provided in a groove formed, in a periphery of the upper and lower ends of an opening. A part of the space is made to be space which does not allow invasion of the liquid and is used as reference space when detecting the characteristics of the liquid of the label substance. A lid for sealing the space of the partition wall is provided. An optical path length may be defined, by fully filling space for storing only the label substance with the label substance and sealing the space with the lid.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
