PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyvinyl acetal resin which has outstanding coating nature at the time of making a ceramic green sheet and can obtain the ceramic green sheet having sufficient mechanical strength, further which is hardly dissolved in an organic solvent in a conductive paste, and in which the dimensional change of the green sheet is small at the time of heating/pressing at the time of laminating.SOLUTION: The polyvinyl acetal resin is characterized in that the degree of polymerization is at least 2,800 and at most 5,000, the amount of a vinyl ester unit is 4-23 mol%, the degree of acetalization is 60-83 mol%, and the molar ratio of a component (AA) in which acetalization has been carried out by acetaldehyde to a component (BA) in which acetalization has been carried out by butyraldehyde is shown by AA/BA=10/90-90/10.
