PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid lubricant which is inhibited from oxidation, decomposition, etc. and maintains its lubricating characteristics, even in a high temperature region in the atmosphere; and to provide a method of manufacturing the same.;SOLUTION: The solid lubricant is formed by coating with a metal oxide layer at least a part of the surface of a graphite material having an interlayer distance made larger than that of natural graphite. In the method of manufacturing the solid lubricant, natural graphite is acid-treated to obtain a graphite material having an expanded interlayer distance, and thereafter the graphite material is brought into contact with a metal alkoxide and then heat-treated to coat at least a part of the surface of the graphite with a metal oxide layer.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
