In the impurity separation method, a flow path having a cross-sectional area smaller than the cross-sectional area of the flow path of the molten metal on the upstream side and the downstream side and larger than the cross-sectional area of the impurity to be separated is formed in the molten aluminum alloy. The impurity separation apparatus is installed, and the impurities are removed from the molten metal by using a wall surface of the impurity separating apparatus by passing the molten metal through a flow path formed in the impurity separating apparatus. The impurity separation device has a first wall surface and a second wall surface. When the first wall surface is installed in the flow path of the molten aluminum alloy, the first wall surface is smaller than the cross-sectional area of the flow path of the molten metal on the upstream side and the downstream side and larger than the cross-sectional area of the impurities to be separated. A channel having an area is formed. The second wall surface is a surface that crosses the flow path of the molten metal on the upstream side when installed in the flow path of the molten metal.
