PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spinel-made light-transmitting material for windows, which is composed of a spinel sintered body and having more reduced light scattering factors, and a method for producing the spinel-made light-transmitting material for windows.;SOLUTION: The spinel-made light-transmitting material for windows comprises a spinel sintered body, wherein the maximum diameter of the pores contained in the light-transmitting material for windows is ≤100 μm and the number of the pores having ≥10 μm maximum diameter are ≤2.0 pieces per 1 cm3 in the light-transmitting material for windows. The method for producing the spinel light-transmitting material for windows includes: a step in which a spinel molded body is prepared; a first sintering step in which the spinel molded body is sintered at atmospheric pressure or less or in a vacuum within a temperature range of 1,500-1,900°C; and a second sintering step in which the spinel molded body is sintered under pressure within a temperature range of 1,500-2,000°C. The method for producing a spinel light-transmitting material for windows is also characterized in that the relative density of the spinel molded body after the first sintering step is 95-96% and the relative density of the spinel molded body after the second sintering step is not less than 99.8%.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
