PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate a synchronous beat light signal at synchronization timing not dependent on polarization of an input light signal.;SOLUTION: A synchronous optical signal generator is equipped with: a local oscillation part 15 generating a modulation signal; an optical coupler 11 multiplexing a reference light signal and a beat light signal of temporally modulated circularly polarized light; a phase comparison part 12 producing a phase comparison signal of the multiplexed reference signal and beat light signal by a nonlinear effect; an electric mixer 13 multiplying the phase comparison signal and the modulation signal to output a differential value sinal of the phase comparison signal as a phase error signal; a loop filter 20 shaping the phase error signal; an OVCO 30 generating and outputting a beat light signal for converting the phase error signal to zero on the basis of the shaped phase error signal; a temporal modulation part 16 carrying out temporal modulation of the generated beat light signal on the basis of the modulation signal; and a circularly polarized light adjustment part 17 converting the temporally modulated beat light signal into circularly polarized light and outputting it to the optical coupler 11.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
