The production process of hidru00d3 - Xi - methyl furfural (HMF) by means of chemical route from the desidratau00c7u00c3o of au00c7ucares using liquid iu00d4nicos borne in nanopartu00cdculas of zircu00d4nia. The reaction of dehydration of sugars is one of the most important approaches to transform biomass into useful chemicals.As the field of application of these components is really broad, is not new to the research in this area, which started at the end of the 19th century, is still being developed. Among the various chemical products derived from biomass, the 5 - hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) is a particularly valuable intermediate for fine chemicals and to the pharmaceutical industry.The HMF is a yellow solid low melting point and highly soluble in water, its molecule is constiuu00edda by a ring of furan containing functional groups aldehyde and alcohol. It is identified in a wide variety of processed foods by heating, for example, the honey.The innovation proposed in this patent concerns a series of synthesis with the aim to produce a catalyst based on zirconia and ionic liquids for the dehydration of sugars and consequent production of HMF (biofuel).It is presented the methodology of synthesis which consists in the production of zirconia nanoparticles with surface functionalized by anchoring of two ionic liquids are distinct, and thus, modifying itself and making efficient catalysts for the production of biofuel pair IRR of sugars.
