SUMMARY “METHOD FOR ADJUSTING ELECTRIC POWER APPLICATION IN AN MOTOR CONTROL SYSTEM, METHOD FOR OPERATING AC CURRENT MOTOR AND AC CURRENT MOTOR SYSTEM” A traction motor system calculates the motor flow generating effective resistance in real time of a resistance grid calculated from the motor torque and voltage measured on a DC link. The calculation of the effective resistance avoids only relying on the DC link voltage that can be affected by conditions such as wheel slip and disconnection of one or more resistance grids. The calculation of the effective resistance is based on the motor rating values using known power levels and conditions. From these nominal values and the effective resistance, various scaling factors, based on the actual motor power, can be generated and used to adjust the nominal flow reference to more accurately reflect the actual motor flow. Scale factors include power and torque scale factors, and active resistance scale factor, in conditions such as wheel slip. 1
