The present invention relates to a Method of measuring amount and quality of both soil primary organic material and the humus. A soil sample disperses in the solution of Ki2Cri2Oi7 in Hi2SOi4, gradually oxidizes, and in continuously taken measuring samples of the suspension, there are determined values of oxidizable carbon CiOX1 through CiOXn and the final value of CiTOT. The CiOXn value determines the amount of the primary organic material, the velocity constant (K) of the gradual oxidation kinetics K = 2.303.tg{alpha} determines the quality, wherein {alpha} is an angle of the gradual oxidation segment (p) formed by the values log (CiTOT - CiOX1) through log (CiTOT - CiOXn). The amount of humus is determined as a humification degree S=100•(CiTOT - CiOXn)/CiTOT, and the humus quality is determined by the Sandhoff method as a difference of the ion-exchange capacity of a soil sample prior and after oxidation with hydrogen peroxide.
