Here are ways to induce a specific immune response in a subject by introducing to the subject an immunogenic composition comprising a recombinant expression vector or a vector particle containing a recombinant expression vector, a vector that includes a polynucleotide sequence encoding the immunogen of interest. The methods further comprise administering the adjuvant composition, either simultaneously or sequentially with the immunogenic composition.
