The present invention provides a new metalloprotein, i.e. selenium lactoferrin; and a method for producing said metalloprotein. The selenium-lactoferrin of the present invention can be suitably prepared by adding a selenium salt to a solution containing lactoferrin and / or apolactoferrin, and then dialysis or ultrafiltration of the resulting mixed solution. The selenium-lactoferrin of the present invention has an excellent therapeutic effect against diseases of the cornea and conjunctiva and is suitable for mass production on an industrial scale.
