In a fault current circuit breaker (1), comprising at least one total current converter (2), through which at least one first conductor (15) and a second conductor (16) of a network to be protected are run, wherein on the total current converter (2) at least one secondary winding (17) is disposed, the secondary winding (17) being at least indirectly operatively connected to an energy storage element (5), at least one discharge resistor (4a) being connected in parallel to the energy storage element (5), wherein the fault current circuit breaker (1) has a breaker (7), which is operatively connected to break contacts in the at least one first conductor (15) and the at least one second conductor (16), it is proposed for the reduction of unexpected cutouts of a network to be protected to use a first partial resistor (4a) and a second partial resistor (4b) connected in series thereto to produce the at least one discharge resistor (4), and to at least indirectly operatively connect at least one first electrical signaling means (20) to the first partial resistor (4a).
