This invention deals with the development of an apparatus which can create the curved hole by using the electrical discharge machining (EDM). EDM is equipped with the innovative mechanism which can create a long complicated curved hole, a hole that can not be formed by conventional machining methods. To generate a curved hole traditionally, it is approximated by using combination of number of straight holes, which leads to interference with the smooth stream of coolant and also the low efficiency of cooling of the mould. Such dearth of generation of tracing circular path can sometimes causes fundamental problems. Therefore, the development of a new method for machining curved holes has been needed. To meet this need, we have conceived a method and apparatus machining curved holes by employing EDM. A long curved hole can be created by making the movement of semicircular ring, and this is possible with the help of rack and pinion arrangement. In order to create holes with this mechanism, the tool has to be capable of moving along circular trajectory in the location in a work-piece while performing EDM.
