The invention relates to a method for preparing a lauryl lactam consisting in carrying out a Beckmann rearrangement of a cyclododecanone oxime. Said method is carries out in a gaseous phase at a temperature ranging from 180 to 450 °C in the presence of a microporous material having a three-dimensional main inorganic structure consisting of tetrahedrons bonded by a common edge called zeolithe.
