The invention relates to an automatic system for monitoring and controlling the concentration of residential radon. According to the invention, the system consists of three main parts: a power supplying block, a radon detection block and a data controlling and processing block, where the power supplying block consists of a solar panel (1), a voltage regulator (2) and an accumulator (4) for solar systems, the detection block is made by means of a PIN diode (15) mounted on a fiberglass support (13) on whose surface a thin copper film (14) is deposited and connected to the ground, the support (13) being placed inside an enclosure (12) of plastic material, provided with a conductive graphite layer (16) on its inner walls, said graphite layer being connected to a positive voltage of 250 V, and a filter (17), placed at the lower part, so that an electric field is obtained between the copper film (14) and the conductive layer (16), said field allowing the capturing and the deposition on the diode surface of the progeny resulting from the radon disintegration, which generate a low intensity electric signal which is taken over by the data controlling and processing block consisting of two operational amplifiers (19 and 20) which process the electric signal until obtaining some signals of the desired amplitude, these signals being counted by a microcontroller (21) which calculates the value of the radon concentration, depending on the number of pulses on a given interval, at the same time the microcontroller (21) detects the parasitic pulses and separates them from the useful ones and, if the radon concentration exceeds a threshold value, there is actuated a ventilation system.
