The invention relates to preprocessing of hyperspectral aerospace image data formed by on-board aircraft and satellite-assisted hyperspectral systems of earth remote sensing. The method provides for compression with such coder parameters that induced losses would provide partial noise attenuation and not distort informational component of hyperspectral image data. The compression is performed with account of correlation of contiguous spectral zones of hyperspectral image data in groups for which compression parameter differ moderately. The method enables to enhance hyperspectral aerospace image data compression degree by 5-150 times compared to lossless compression.
